International Labor Day ,celebrated on 1stmay also recognized as May Day around the World.This Anniversary Celebration dignifies the struggle, achievement and sacrifices of workers in their ongoing efforts to secure labor conditions, fundamental rights and fair wages. The Origins of International Labor Day

During 19th century when the industrial revolution in full swing the roots of International labor day can be traced back. Workers faced grueling work conditions, long hours, lack of basic safety measures and minimal pay particularly in USA.in 18865 The Haymarket affair in Chicago became a crucial phase in the labor movement. When peaceful rally in support of an eight hour workday turned violent, many labor activist were unjustly tried and executed ,igniting solidarity ,widespread outrage among the workers worldwide.

To remember Haymarket Martyrs, an organization of socialist and labor parties ,designated May 1st as an annual celebration or workers’ rights in 1889.Since then ,International Labor Day is celebrated by countries around the world .it is serving as the powerful symbol of Unity, Resilience, and the ongoing struggle for fair labor practices.

The Significance of Labor Rights

Labor Rights safeguard the well being, dignity and fundamental human rights and equitable treatment of workers. These rights include fair wages, reasonable working hours ,safe working conditions, collective bargaining ,freedom of association and protection from exploitation and discrimination.

The International Labor Organization (ILO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, Plays vital role in upholding promoting labor standards globally.ILO provides recommended and conventional framework for member of states to ensure good work opportunities and protection of rights of worker, regardless of gender, occupation and their nationality.
