Biju Patnaik became Chief Minister of Odisha twice. He was the first Chief Minister from 1961 to 1963 and remained Chief Minister from 1990 to 1995. He did many important things during his tenure. Clearly, he was a freedom fighter and a brave pilot as well.
Biju Patnaik was so passionate about aviation that he dropped out of school to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot. After training, he began flying with the Civil Aviation Service, but joined the Royal Indian Air Force during World War II. During this time, he also started King Airlines.

Biju Patnaik was very brave. Due to his brave actions, he faced many difficulties but did not back down. He has been honored many times.

In 1947, when Pakistani invaders invaded Kashmir, Biju Patnaik played a major role in saving Kashmir. Biju was a pilot and flew the Dakota DC-3. On 27 October, he flew to Srinagar airport in his plane and took with him 17 soldiers of the 1st Sikh Regiment.
He flew his plane near the airstrip and when he saw that the road was clear he landed his plane there and the Indian soldiers who arrived there chased away the intruders.
Biju's Missile Dream:

Former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad also mentioned this. Kalam met Biju Patnaik and discussed this. Biju Babu then told him that he was ready to give him 5 islands, but in return he should promise to make a missile that could land on China.
Dream of Death:
On the 17th of April 1997, Eagle of storm Bijubabu was forever remain silence. But he did not die as he wanted. Regarding his death, Biju said, "I would rather die in a plane crash than a long-term illness." Otherwise I would have died immediately... I would have fallen and died.”
