Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti ,the birth anniversary of  Hindu Samrat is Celebrated every year on February 19th ,He was the 17th Century Indian Brave Warrior King.As we are now on February 19th 2024,its time to remember Great life and Achievement of india’s Most Iconic Historical figure Chatrapati  Shivaji Maharaj.He fought courageously against the Mughal Empire,he is the symble of courage,tactical brilliance,compassion, tolerance and inclusive governance.

Early life of Shivaji Maharaj.

Shivaji Bhonsle was born on February 19th,1630 ,his parents were Shahaji Bhonsle and Jijabai at Shivneri Fort of Pune.His parents were strongly opponent of Mughal Empire,rising threat to Hindus .During Young Age ,he was very much inspired by the Great heroes from Hindu Scriptures,which he learned from the tales of Jijabai ,for which his faith for hindu culture as well as passion for independence and justice was at utmost height.

From childhood ,Shivaji was very much courage,determined and intelligent.his formal education was study of language,art of diplomace,martial arts and good governance.He was deeply conncted the spiritual path through the influence of Saint Tukaram.By his teen age ,Shivaji was strong opponent of the Mughal Regime,he launched his first military attack at the age of 16.

Shivaji Great Conquerer and Tactical Warrior.

Shivaji was the military leader for his adoption of Guerilla warfare techniques against Mughal Forces.. Using speed and surprise as his main weapons, Shivaji captured many forts held by Mughal armies. He was a master of tactics, changing plans on the fly and maintaining contingency schemes. Shivaji also pioneered "Shiva sutra" or "Ganimi Kava" (enemy tricks) – a military manual outlining cunning and psychological warfare methods.

Some of Shivaji’s storied conquests as a young warrior include capturing the Torna Fort and Chakan Fort from the Mughal occupiers. His eventually went on take over Raigad Fort, which then became capital of the emerging Maratha Empire. Shivaji’s approached was methodical – he would spent months understanding target forts in detail before launching meticulously planned sieges using commando operations. He had captured 240 forts from the Mughals during his coronation as Chhatrapati in 1674 !

Good  Governance and Religious Tolerance

Though a champion of Hindu causes, Shivaji Maharaj practiced a policy of tolerance towards other religions. Muslim soldiers and commanders were welcome in his court and army. Shivaji ensured protection of churches, mosques and dargahs. His governing council included ministers from Muslim, Maratha and Kanbi communities. This inclusive approach helped build a broad coalition that powered the rise of the Marathas.

On the administrative front, Shivaji instituted a number of progressive policies. These included establishment of a just and ethical revenue system as well as promoting use of Marathi and Sanskrit over Persian in court documents. Much ahead of his time, he pioneered initiatives such as empowering women to hold political posts and providing military employment to marginalized communities. 

Shivaji Maharaj 8 Ministers

Eight Council of Minister administered the Maratha Empire was known as Ashta Pradhan.They were called Peshva,Amatya,Wagia-Navis,Samant,Sachiv,Pandit Rao,Sar-i-nabuat, and Nyayadhish.It was an advisory council and administrative council setup in 1674 by Maharaja Chatrapati Shivaji.

Legacy and Significance as an Icon

63 year old Shivaji laid the foundation of Vast Martha Empire rulling entire india during his death in 1680 .More than Military Conquests his biggest achievement were injecting a sense of Hindu Pride,Nationality and Unity among Ordinary Citizens.He set Great Example to fight foreign rule and injustice ,despite of facing so many odds.

Now ,Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is Most iconic personality and symble of courage ,good governance,brilliant warrior .His teaching and practices give guidance for nation building ,military tactics and administration .Shivaji declared the independence of Hindavi Swarajya 1000years sinse Mahmud ghazni’s destructive invasion began.He is inspiration to Indian youth for his courage and sacrifice for the  nation.

Celebrations of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti 2024

To mark the birth anniversary of great Maratha warrior, 394th birth anniversary Chatrapati Shivaji Jayanti was celebrated with great festive attire in Maharastra and rest of india on February 19th,2024.

Grand Event in Pune: Shivaji jayanti is State Organized event in pune –which is the home town of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.All over state processions ,performances has been done by political parties and compition event is organized for youth and kids.Great warriors lifestory show cased in some places.

Homage at Raigad Fort: Raigad fort stand central attraction as it was the Capital of Shivaji Maharaja. On February 19th , chief minister and governor of the state will attend the  state memorial ceremony .Tourists visit  Raigad Fort over the long holiday weekend during Shivaji Jayanti.

Shivaji Statue Inaugurations: Previous year Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the grand  216 feet tall Shiv Smarak statue in Mumbai.People call Shivaji as Shivraya in Maharastra.
