ISRO Yuvika 2024: Training the
Next Generation of Space Scientists|Eligibility and Procedure to Apply.
The Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) has made possible to place india its name as a major space faring nation through series of successful inter planetary mission and successful satellite launches.Mantaining this momentum is a chalanging task so it requires constant hunting of talented scientists that can lead india’s future space projects.ISRO Yuvika ,is a initiative to nurture young Indian students, which aims to groom young minds that can gradually empower the organizations upcoming ambitious undertakings such as interplanetary travel ,space missions and space colonization.
ISRO Yuvika 2024 - Objectives and Features
ISRO Yuvika (Young Scientist Program) was formally instituted in 2019 to ignite scientific curiosity and a spirit of space research among high performing young school students. The two week residential training program allows participants to visit various ISRO facilities to learn about application of emerging technologies for space related activities directly from eminent scientists.
ISRO Yuvika's objective
ISRO's main objective behind organizing this program is to increase the number of students studying these subjects across the country, students learn the fundamentals of space-related ideas, children across the country learn science through this. , be able to pursue their careers in technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Some salient objectives and offerings of Yuvika are:
- Motivate students in 8th to 10th grade towards space research and provide them first hand exposure to ISRO workings.
- Teach basics of space technology, space science and applications to young inquisitive minds.
- Visit state-of-the-art R&D facilities like spacecraft testing facilities, rocket launch pads etc.
- Experience specialized sessions on diverse topics like robotics, theoretical physics, astronomy etc taken by senior ISRO scientists.
-Get introduced to exciting areas like rocketry, satellite imagery analysis and remote sensing data applications.
The fully sponsored program features interactive sessions, experiential learning via virtual reality, experiments and data analysis exercises besides facility tours. Notably, Yuvika 2024 will see substantial enhancements concerning simulation trainings as well virtual reality labs.
Why Nurture Young Space Enthusiasts?
India’s ascent as a 21st century economic powerhouse critically hinges on scientific breakthroughs leveraging cutting-edge space technology. ISRO continues to accomplish one milestone after another, including the high-profile Chandrayaan missions and Mangalyaan Mars Orbiter Mission.
However, the organization’s audacious roadmap envisions loftier pursuits like manned space missions named Gaganyaan, exploratory probes of Venus and Jupiter, reusable satellite launch vehicles and eventually human colonization on Moon and Mars over the next few decades.
Such technologically intensive projects require thousands of specialized engineers, data scientists and subject experts equipped with advanced theoretical and practical know-how. By captivating impressionable students early on through initiatives like Yuvika, ISRO aims to build up a vast pool of space research enthusiasts - and potential future scientists - over the long run.
Eligibility and Selection Process
The 15 day residential training program is open for Indian students studying in 8th to 10th grades in recognized education boards. Applicants are shortlisted based on academic performance criteria stipulated by ISRO. Students who secure above 75% marks in math, science and overall academics in the previous year examination are eligible.
ISRO releases detailed Yuvika notification by January every year on its website. After registrations close by February, applicants undergo a screening test held at various centers nationwide. Finally around 110-120 meritorious students are selected after exhaustive evaluation of all test papers based on highest scores.
