1528 To 2024 Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Dispute Timeline: The construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya is in its final stages. On January 22, 2024, the temple will be inaugurated at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya and Ram Lala's life will be consecrated.
The journey to build the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya was not easy at all. Almost five centuries passed from the construction of the mosque at Ramjanmabhoomi to the construction of the grand temple of Ram Lala. Ayodhya has been the center of controversy for years.
The story that started with the debate kept circulating in the court files for many years, however, the Supreme Court settled the disputed land, after which the path for the construction of Ram temple was cleared. 1528 : Construction of Mosque at the Place
1528: A mosque was built at such a place in Ayodhya. Which people of Hindu community believe that Lord Ram was born there. It is said that Mughal emperor Babar had built this mosque which is called Babri Masjid.
1853 :First time disputes between two communities.
1853: For the first time there was a dispute between two communities on this issue. According to the documents, for the first time Hindus alleged that Babri Masjid was constructed by demolishing the temple in the birthplace of Lord Ram. For the first time there was violence between Hindus and Muslims on this issue.

1885: The case reached the court for the first time during the British rule. Mahant Raghubar Das demanded from the court that permission be given to build a temple on the platform. This demand was rejected. After this, not much happened in this regard and the dust kept gathering on the matter for more than 6 decades.
1946: Dispute between Shias and Sunnis

1949: In July, the state government started the effort to
build a Ram temple outside of the place.

1949: The country had become independent. On 22-23 December, idols of Ram, Sita and Lakshman were placed in the mosque and Muslims stopped offering namaz here. Later the government locked this place.

1950 - 1961 Disputes.
1950: A new round of court battle for this land begins. In this dated case, all the land claimants were from 1950 onwards.
1950: On January 16, Gopal Das Visharad Court said that the idols should not be removed from there and the worship should continue without interruption. The court said - the idols will not be removed, but will remain locked and only the priest will perform the puja. The public will visit from outside.
1959: Nirmohi Akhara reached the court and presented the claim.
1961: On December 18, Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board filed a case for the ownership rights of the disputed site.
1984 to 1989 Ayodhya Movement.
1984: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) started a campaign for the construction of a huge temple, demanding opening of the lock of the disputed site. VHP also formed a committee.
1986: Hindus got relief from the decision of Faizabad Court on 1 February. Hindus were allowed to worship at the disputed site. After the decision the lock of the disputed structure was reopened. Angered by this, Muslims formed Babri Masjid Action Committee in protest.
1989: On July 1, a fifth case was registered in the name of Lord Ramlala Virajman. This case was filed by VHP leader Devkinandan Aggarwal.
1989: On November 9, the government of Rajiv Gandhi, who was the Prime Minister of the country at that time, gave permission to lay the foundation stone of Ram temple near the disputed site.
1990 BJP Leaders Rath Yatra from Somnath.
1990: On September 25, BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani started a Rath Yatra from Somnath. This journey was to go till Ayodhya. This Rath Yatra created a passion in the entire country, due to which riots broke out in Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. Curfew was imposed in many areas.
1990: Advani was arrested by Lalu Yadav in Bihar on 23 October.
1990: Karsevaks climbed the dome of the structure and broke the dome. Saffron was hoisted there. After this riots broke out.
1991: General elections were held in June and BJP government was formed in UP.
1992 : Demolition of Babri Mosque.
1992: Karseva was announced in the Dharma Sansad on 30-31 October.
1992: In November, Kalyan Singh gave an affidavit in the court to protect the mosque.
1992: 06 December was the day for which the Ram Mandir movement was most discussed. Thousands of kar sevaks reached Ayodhya on this day. Lakhs of Karsevaks demolished the Babri structure. Karsevaks climbed the dome of the structure at 11.50 am. At around 4.30 the third dome of the mosque also collapsed.
After the demolition of Babri Masjid, riots broke out across the country. During this time, a temporary Ram temple was hastily built and the then Prime Minister Narasimha Rao also promised to rebuild the mosque.
2002: Bench of Judges of High Court Hearing.
2002: In April, a bench of three judges of Allahabad High Court started hearing regarding the ownership rights of the disputed site.
2003: Allahabad High Court got excavation done at the site of the fight to find out whether there was a Ram temple.
2005: A terrorist attack took place here in July. But the terrorists could not do any damage there and were killed. Terrorists used a jeep filled with explosives at the disputed site. Security forces killed 5 terrorists in the encounter.
2010 : Divide of the land between three communities.
2010: On September 30, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court gave a historic verdict. In which the disputed site was divided into three equal parts among Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lala.
2017 : Condition of Supreme Court on Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.
2017: On March 21, the Supreme Court offered mediation in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. Chief Justice JS Khehar offered that if both the parties agree, he is ready for mediation outside the court.
2018: On February 8, the hearing on the civil appeal for the disputed site of Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid started in the Supreme Court.
2019: On January 8, the Supreme Court formed a Constitution bench of five judges, led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. The other four judges were Justice SA Bobde, Justice NV Ramana, Justice UU Lalit and Justice DY Chandrachud.
2019: On March 8, the Supreme Court decided to resolve the matter through talks and formed a three-member mediation committee for this.

2019: On November 9, the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hindus and handed over the entire disputed land. The Muslim side was also ordered to provide a mosque away from this place.
2020 : Bhumi Pujan on Ayodhya.
2020: Bhoomi pujan program for Ram temple was organized on 5th August.Bhoomi pujan of the grand Ram temple was done in Ayodhya at the hands of PM Narendra Modi. In this way the construction of Ram temple started in Ayodhya.
2024:Pran Pratistha of Lord Sri Ram.
2024: On January 22, the grand Ram temple completed in Ayodhya will be inaugurated and the idols will be consecrated.
